Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 1, 2026
GoSteady LLC ("GoSteady," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you visit gosteady.co (the "Site") and when you use the GoSteady smart walker cap and the GoSteady app (together with the Site, the "Service"). GoSteady helps family caregivers and the people they care for understand daily walking activity.
SMS quick summary: we use your mobile number to send one-time login codes and the account/activity notifications you sign up for. We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or your SMS opt-in consent with any third party for their own marketing. Reply STOP to any text to opt out.
Information We Collect
When you visit our Site or sign up for updates, we collect:
- Email address
- First name (if provided)
We also automatically collect certain technical data when you visit the Site:
- Pages visited and time spent on the Site
- Referring website or source
- Browser type and device information
- Approximate geographic location (country/region level)
When you use the GoSteady cap and app, we collect:
- Account information — name, email, mobile phone number, and your relationship to the person using the walker.
- Care-recipient information — a display name and details you provide about the person whose walking activity is monitored.
- Activity & device data from the cap — estimated steps, distance, and active time per walking session, derived movement metrics, and device health such as battery level, cellular signal, and firmware version. The cap measures motion with onboard sensors; it does not collect audio, images, or location/GPS.
- Usage and technical data — logs and diagnostics used to operate and improve the Service.
How We Use Your Information
- Provide the Service — show walking-activity summaries and trends to authorized users.
- Send updates about GoSteady and the account/activity communications you sign up for (including SMS — see below).
- Verify your identity and secure your account (one-time login codes / 2FA).
- Understand how visitors use our Site and measure advertising effectiveness, to improve.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, secure, and improve the Service and our devices, and comply with law.
Health-Related Information
Walking-activity data can relate to a person's wellbeing. We treat it as sensitive and apply the protections in this policy. GoSteady is a general wellness and activity-monitoring product, not a medical or diagnostic service (see our Terms of Service). When GoSteady provides the Service to a healthcare facility under a separate agreement, additional data-protection terms (including HIPAA terms where applicable) govern that relationship.
SMS / Text Messaging
If you provide your mobile number and opt in, we send (a) one-time login verification codes and (b) account and activity notifications (for example, a low-activity check-in suggestion). Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out and HELP for help. We do not sell, rent, or share your mobile number or your SMS opt-in consent with third parties for their marketing purposes. SMS is delivered via our messaging provider solely to send the messages you signed up for.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use the following third-party services on our Site:
- Plausible Analytics — a privacy-friendly analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. It provides aggregate visitor statistics only.
- Meta Pixel (Facebook) — we use the Meta Pixel to measure the effectiveness of our Facebook advertising. The Meta Pixel may use cookies to track conversions, optimize ads, and build targeted audiences. You can learn more at Meta's Privacy Policy.
You can opt out of interest-based advertising through your browser settings or by visiting Your Ad Choices.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With people you authorize — e.g., family members or caregivers you invite to view a care recipient's activity.
- With service providers that operate the Service on our behalf — for example cloud hosting (Amazon Web Services), our website host (Netlify), and SMS delivery — under contracts that limit their use of the data to providing services to us.
- With Meta (Facebook) — conversion event data to measure ad performance, as described above.
- For legal reasons — to comply with law, enforce our terms, or protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the public.
- In a business transfer — as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
Data Security and Retention
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption in transit and at rest and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business or legal purposes, then delete or de-identify it. You can request removal at any time by emailing us.
Your Rights
You may request to access, correct, or delete your personal information at any time by contacting us at contact@gosteady.co. You may opt out of SMS at any time by replying STOP. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws.
Children
The Service is intended for adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
